Abstraction (2019)
Afflicted by the social environment, the individual is given an identity with birth: name, first name, as well as identity-forming characteristics, such as gender, cultural and social background. This totality forms the universal framework of the enforced identity of the individual. In contrast, Tambwe’s performance is like a caterpillar creeping into a cocoon and reappearing as a grotesque form – a newly invented, abstracted and confused body that allows us new interpretations of its own.
